Cal-Mum Memorial Day 2019

by Maria on June 8th, 2019

We were happy to have another nice day. That brought out a good crowd of spectators on the street and a good crowd of musicians for the band.

Tyler couldn't march with us because he was with the Boy Scouts and played Taps on the bugle during the ceremony. The High School Band played You're a Grand Old Flag, and we played Armed Forces Salute. Then the two bands combined to play The Star-Spangled Banner.

We welcomed Jonah, a new snare drummer. Cindy played trumpet parts transposed for alto sax. Scott W. played trumpet and snare drum.

Angelina and Mary carried the banner. Bob K. carried the American flag and Keenan's friend, Jamie, carried the New York State flag. Hannah and Maya carried rifles to guard the flags.

We had a whole row of flutes - Sarah, Irene, Tracey and Tara - and a whole row of trombones - Art, Scott M., Keenan and Sue. Other woodwinds included Melody and Kelly on clarinet; Margaret and Cindy on alto sax; Maria on tenor sax. Other brass included Arnie and Scott W. on trumpet; Don H. and Josh on sousaphone. On percussion we had Scott W., Kevin and Jonah on snare drum; Steve on bass drum and Andy on cymbals.

Our next event is the Spencerport Fire Department Parade on Thursday, June 6. See you there!
