Bergen Park Festival 2016

by Maria on June 17th, 2016

The Bergen Park Festival is a great event for us because we march in the parade and do a concert afterward. This gives us a chance to play some different music that might not have an appropriate tempo for marching. We have two folios: one for marching and one for concert. The marching book gets played for every event, marching or not. The concert book is only used when we're standing still.

It was a breezy hot sunny day. We played in the pavilion at the east end of the park. The shelter protected us from the sun but not the wind, which tempered the heat but forced us to use clips and rubber bands to keep our music from blowing around.

Irene and both daughters, Karen and Kim, were in attendance. Elise brought a friend, Mollie, whom we tried to convince to come back some time to march in color guard. Steve played bass drum.

Our next event is the Penfield Independence Day Parade on July 2. This is the first time we've marched in Penfield, so we're looking forward to a new and exciting experience. See you there!
