Honor Flight Rochester 2016

by Maria on June 1st, 2016

It was a busy day for the Rochester International Airport. By the time we arrived, short-term parking was already full, so airport personnel were directing everyone into the long-term parking garage. Unfortunately, there's a 7' clearance for the upper levels. Steve and Margaret's truck is taller than that, so they had to find a spot on Level 1.

Marcia's husband, Bob, and son, Brian, held the banner while we played. There were four flutes: Irene, Karen G., Aleesa and Tracey. Tracey had her hands full with her three boys in tow. The eldest was wearing his Boy Scout uniform, which fit in with the patriotic theme of the day.

While we were waiting for the veterans, a camera man for WHEC Channel 10 came over and said he wanted to interview someone from the band. We looked on as Pully answered his questions. The footage was shown on the evening news.

Even though Arnie's services weren't needed for playing the National Anthem at the Honor Flight ceremony, he still came to play trumpet with us. Don played sousaphone, Scott played snare, Steve played bass drum and Nancy played cymbals.

We had more good news: Tom P. and his fiance, Julianna, are getting married next week. Best wishes!

Our next event is the Cal-Mum Memorial Day Parade. We hope to see you there!
