Cal-Mum Youth Baseball Parade 2016

by Maria on May 14th, 2016

The opening day of baseball is a sure sign that summer is coming, and Kelley's Heroes was leading the way. The Cal-Mum Youth Baseball Parade is one of those short parades that brings out a lot of people and creates a sense of community.

There were only eleven people, but all the parts were covered. The woodwinds were Margaret on flute, Kelly on clarinet, and Steve and Steph on alto sax. The brass were Arnie on trumpet, Harold on trombone, Pully on valve trombone and Maria on sousaphone. The percussion were Don S. on snare drum, Andy on bass drum and Emily on cymbals.

The banner was carried by Angelina and Claire. They wore their blue baseball team shirts. So did Steve because he is one of their coaches. Their other coach is our other bass drummer, Jon, but he marched with the team.

We led the parade around the block and back to the baseball field at Tenant Park. After brief welcoming remarks, we played The Star-Spangled Banner. The opening ceremony continued and the youth baseball season had officially begun.

Our next event is the Lilac Parade on May 7. See you there!
