Brighton Community Homecoming Parade 2015

by Maria on September 11th, 2015

It's been a month since our last parade, and it felt good to get together again. After 10 days of hot humid weather, it also felt good to march in a relatively cool dry 70 degrees.

The Brighton Community Homecoming Parade is a unique parade for us. We start near the front of the parade. Then we step out of the parade at Monroe Avenue and continue playing while the rest of the parade passes by. At the end, we step back into the parade and march to the end.

We had six trumpets: Doug, Mike B., Mike W., Karen L., Tom J. and Bob. Don S. played snare so that Scott could play trombone. TJ and Kayla carried the banner, Kristen carried the American flag and Ed carried the sword.

A couple of our members have good news to share. Ben and his wife, Heather, had a baby boy named Caleb. Camille and Andy got married in a lovely outdoor ceremony.

We have a quick turn around for our next parade because we'll be marching again tomorrow morning in the Livonia Autumn in the Village parade. See you there!
