Honor Flight Rochester 2015

by Maria on May 7th, 2015

Honor Flight is one of our favorite events. If you're not familiar with Honor Flight, it is a program that flies WWII veterans and Korean War veterans to Washington, D.C., to "visit and reflect together at the memorials." (honorflightrochester.org) This flight also included a few Vietnam War vets.

We were at the airport ready to play at 11:00 m. We played some of our favorite music for about an hour as we waited for the veterans to arrive. Then, as the veterans passed through, we played our best patriotic tunes, including the popular Armed Forces Salute, a medley of official songs representing the five branches of the military: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard.

We welcomed another new member: Ashley's sister, Libby, on flute. Steve played bass drum. Josh played sousaphone, and Don H. rode with the Patriot Guard. Tom's wife, Kristen, and children, TJ and Kayla held and guarded the American flag.

Our next event is the Lilac Festival Parade. See you there!
