Rochester St. Patrick's Day Parade 2015

by Maria on March 19th, 2015

24 was the number of the day. Kelley's Heroes had 24 marchers to kick off its 24th season.

It was a cloudy day with an intermittent misty drizzle, but that didn't dampen the spirits of the marchers or the spectators. After the brutally cold weather we had to endure in February, today's milder temperature of 44 degrees was a welcome change.

Stephanie, who joined us in December, had such a good time that she recruited her brother, Tom, to play trombone. Welcome, Tom! There were five flutes: Irene, Karen, Krissy, Tara, and Elise. Krissy came all the way from SUNY Buffalo to spend the weekend with her Aunt Margaret and to play for the the parades today and tomorrow. Doug and Mike came through for the trumpet section, and Tim and Andy led the percussion section. Theresa looked positively verdant in green eye shadow and green lipstick.

Attila marched with Peyton, and Petunia marched with McKenna. Petunia, who normally has white fur, was dyed green for the occasion. Attila, who has black fur, was wearing a fashionable green sweater. We finished playing Seventy-Six Trombones just as we were passing the reviewing stand and we could hear the commentator saying, "They have a green dog!" Good job, Tara!

We had so much fun today, we're going to do it again tomorrow by marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Buffalo.
