Buffalo St. Patrick's Day Parade 2015

by Maria on March 19th, 2015

This was our second parade of the weekend. Yesterday, we marched in Rochester; today we marched in Buffalo with the Ancient Order of Hibernians. It was a little colder, and a strong wind was blowing in our faces as we stepped off onto Delaware Avenue. Halfway through the parade route, we realized the wind had calmed down, the sun was shining, and some of us actually felt warm.

Who would be willing to march two parades in one weekend? Well, more people than you would think: Irene, Karen G., Krissy, Elise, Marcia, Margaret, Steve, Maria, Steph, Doug, Tom P., Pully, and Theresa. Karen R., Bob and Don S. marched two parades in two days with two different bands. Yesterday they marched with The March Time Marchers, and today they marched with Kelley's Heroes.

Steph recruited her other brother, Josh P., to play trumpet. Welcome, Josh! In case you haven't noticed, Josh P. and Tom P. are twins. Krissy recruited Vanessa and Gabe, two of her SUNY Buffalo classmates, to carry the banner. Gabe also plays trumpet, and we're hoping he'll play with us in future parades. Maria played sousaphone. Don S. and Jon came through for the percussion section. Theresa looked even more verdant today because she added long green false eye lashes to her green eye shadow and green lipstick.

Our next two events are also back-to-back on the same weekend. We'll be marching in the Cal-Mum Youth Baseball Parade on May 2 and playing at the Rochester International Airport to welcome Honor Flight on May 3.
