Livonia Autumn in the Village 2014

by Maria on September 23rd, 2014

Early morning showers brought back memories of the monsoon of 2012, but there was no reason for worry. The drizzle stopped before our instruments were put together. It was chilly, though, so almost everyone wore their sweatshirts. However, the sun was shining at the end of the parade and almost everyone was too warm.

Don H. had planned to play tuba, but he was in the hospital after having a motorcyle accident.  All of us wish Don a speedy recovery. Josh marched and covered the part.

We were glad to see Art. He's been pretty busy this season. Both his son, Ben, who also plays with Kelley's Heroes, and daughter, Bonnie, got married this summer. Congratularions to all!

Theresa's bells were in the shop. Fortunately, Andy has a glockenspiel that he let her use. Liz had the whistle. Trevor, Connor and Donovan made up the color guard.

After the parade, we did a joint concert with the Mark Time Marchers. It's always exciting to hear two bands play together.

Our next event is the Brighton Community Homecoming Parade this Friday, September 19.
