Byron Heritage Festival Parade 2014

by Maria on July 27th, 2014

The Byron Heritage Festival is a new event for Kelley's Heroes and it represents the very best of small town living. Almost everyone in town chooses to be involved in some capacity: garage sales, car cruise, garden contest, chicken barbecue and fireworks. It's a great way to get to know your neighbors and your community.

The parade consisted of community organizations and local politicians. Kelley's Heroes was the only band. Children of band members carried small Ameircan flags and marched with the color guard: Kelly and Jon's son, James; Steve and Margaret's daughter, Angelina, and neice, Amber, who was visiting from Virginia. After the parade, we played some of our favorite songs at Firemen's Park.

Trevor played trumpet. Emily played cymbals. Maria played sousaphone. Nancy stepped on what we think were the remains of a dead muskrat. For some reason, Margaret was looking for a hotel.

Art couldn't join us because his daughter, Bonnie, got married today. Art doesn't get dressed up very often, so we're looking forward to seeing pictures of him in his tux. Congratulations and best wishes to all!

Our next event is the Clifton FD Parade on Friday, August 1. See you there!
