Kendall FD Parade 2014

by Maria on July 14th, 2014

Kendall/East Battalion is our new fire department this year. Since this parade was in Kendall, the Kendall FD marched in front of us along with all of the other Kendall community organizations. Then the East Battalion marched behind us and led the neighboring fire departments.

Trevor made his debut on trumpet. He has been marching in the color guard for much of this season, but he does play trumpet, and this was a good night for him to test his chops. Doug and Karen L. were Trevor's mentors for the evening. Donovan played bass drum  and Connor carried the banner with Emily.

Larry came all the way from Clyde; that's a round trip of about three hours on the road. It's been great to have him at so many parades this year. Maria played sousaphone. Irene was very energetic in the beer tent. Each time we said we were playing our last song, Irene would call another one. We must have played at least five "last" songs.

We found out that we took second place in Stafford for both band and color guard. Even though most of us just play for enjoyment, it feels good to know that we play well enough to win a prize once in a while.

Our next event is a concert for the Caledonia Monument Park Dedication Ceremony. We extend a special invitation to musicians in the Cal-Mum area to sit in with us. If you would like to do so, click above on Join and send us an email so that we can bring music for you.
