Spencerport FD Parade 2014
by Maria on June 14th, 2014
It was another nice night for a parade as we marched with our friends in the Clifton Fire Department. There were some clouds, but it never rained.
What would you do if you drove 40 minutes to march in a parade and then you realized you left your music at home? Well, if you are Josh, you call your wife and have her take pictures of your music so that you can read it from your phone while you're marching. Thanks, Joanne! Josh owes you a special night out for this one.
Coincidentally, while we were in the beer tent, we noticed that a young lady playing contrabass bugle with The Hilton Generations Band was also reading her music from an electronic device. This may be a trend of the future.
We've been having fun playing I Heard It through the Grapevine this year. As the music begins the two people on the outside edges move in behind the two people on the inside to make two long columns of two. Then Pully leads the columns, winding from side to side on the street, reminiscent of the old California raisins commercials. We could actually hear the crowd gasp as we executed this maneuver. If you're too young to remember this classic commercial from 1986, you can see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM2OK_JaJ9I.
Next weekend, we have two parades: Friday night in Stafford and Saturday afternoon in Bergen. See you there!
