Bergen Parade and Concert 2013
by Maria on June 9th, 2013
Happy 200th Birthday to Bergen, NY! Kelley's Heroes was happy to be part of the celebration by marching in the parade and performing a concert in Hickory Park. Western NY has been stuck in an unsettled weather pattern and yesterday was no exception. It drizzled on and off all day, but at least it was pleasantly cool.
Rex and Colleen carried the banner at the beginning of the parade. Kathy made her first parade this season after having shoulder surgery earlier this year. Due to conflicts with work, we haven't seen Liz and Candy for a while. It was nice to have them, as well as Doug and Karen, in the trumpet section. Harold was the only trombone, and he played with great volume and enthusiasm. Even so, when he played the trombone solo in Sweet Caroline, I had to warn the woodwinds - Irene, Karen, Margaret, Gail, Kim, Kathy and Steve - to not overpower him ; ) Josh plays a contra bass bugle pitched in the key of G, so he spent a couple of hours transposing his concert music from the Bb tuba part in preparation for the concert. Scott, Andy and Theresa covered snare drum, bass drum, cymbals and bells.
Our high school friend Tyler, who played Taps at the Cal-Mum Memorial Day ceremony, came over to watch. We hope he joins us when he graduates from high school. If you would like to join Kelley's Heroes Band or Color Guard, click above on Join, complete the form and submit.
The next event on our schedule is the Chil-E-Fest in Chili on Thursday, July 4 at 5 pm. We hope you can be there!

Despite the weather, which certainly could have been worse, it was a fun event :)
