Spencerport FD Parade 2013

by Maria on June 6th, 2013

It rained hard most of day, but tapered off to a sprinkle during the parade. The crowd was a little smaller than usual, but there was a festive spirit in the air. Some band members came prepared with sweatshirts, jackets and ponchos. Wet weather can wreak havoc with musical instruments, especially the woodwinds, but we sounded pretty good in spite of it.

Even though a decision had been made before the parade to not play in the beer tent after the parade because of the weather, a few of us stayed for something to eat and drink. Since we were only half a band, Irene flaunted her feminine charms and negotiated to buy half a case of beer for half price. Our friends in the Hilton Generations Band were playing in the beer tent and invited us to play a couple of tunes with them: Sing, Sing, Sing! and Stars and Stripes Forever.  It's always fun to make music with friends!

Our next event is a parade and concert in Bergen on Saturday, June 8. The parade starts at noon and the concert starts at 1 pm.
