Caledonia-Mumford Hometown Holidays 2012

by Maria on December 3rd, 2012

The Christmas season has officially begun in the Caledonia-Mumford community! A festive spirit was in the air as Saturday's mild weather encouraged a large crowd to gather for the parade and craft sale.

This is the shortest parade on our schedule - less than half a mile - and it's nice to see so many community organizations taking part. There were floats, goats and marchers from Scouts, school, churches and Rotary. Kelley's Heroes marched in front of Santa's horse-drawn wagon.

When the parade reached the Fire Hall, the high school band under the direction of Matt Trost played Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree during the tree lighting ceremony. Then, Kelley's Heroes played Christmas music until the crowd dispersed.

We were a small group, but all instruments were represented. The percussion section consisted of Rick "The Monster" on snare and Andy on bass. Rick used this solo opportunity to perform his version of auxiliary percussion parts and add a few ideas of his own to the music.

This is the last event on the Kelley's Heroes 2012 event calendar, and we'll be taking a break during the winter months. Check back again in March when we kick off the season with St. Patrick's Day Parades in Rochester and Buffalo. If you would like to join the band or color guard at the start of the 2013 season, go to the homepage and click on Join.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
