Hot! Hot! Hot!: Henrietta Memorial Day Parade 2012
by Maria on May 23rd, 2012
How hot was it?
It was so hot at the Lilac Parade on May 12, Marcia E. had to go up to the McDonalds to shed a layer of clothing.
It was so hot at the Henrietta Parade on May 20, the pavement melted the sole off Steve B.'s sneaker while we were marching on East Henrietta Road.
It was so hot, I felt like I was going to pass out just before the reviewing stand. Fortunately, Scott M. had half a bottle of water, and he gave it to me. Even though the official temperature that afternoon was 88 degrees, unofficial temperatures were in the 90s. We had been standing in the parking lot for an hour and marching on hot pavement another hour. Fortunately, I recovered quickly, went to work the next day and kept my appointment with the Red Cross for giving blood in the afternoon. Gail was also there, donating not drawing.
The forecast for Memorial Day on May 28 is another hot one at 88 degrees. Be prepared and hydrate. Hopefully, the morning won't be so bad and the heat will hold off until the afternoon.
